Efforts to promote the island as a wedding and honeymoon destination result in direct bookings.

Saint Lucia representatives recently attended a two-day Bridal Expo hosted by Perfect Wedding Guide in Indianapolis, Indiana, in continued efforts to promote the island as a wedding and honeymoon destination.

Over 1000 brides attended the event at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. Saint Lucia worked with PASS agent Scott Jones from EZ Travel Pad, and offered a complimentary tour to any couple making a deposit during or within two weeks of the show, to honeymoon in Saint Lucia.

At least five couples confirmed Saint Lucia for their honeymoon during the show, with bookings to Sugar Beach, Sandals and Ti Kaye. Several more showed keen interest.

The Tourist Board also participated in the American Consumer Bridal Show in Pennsylvania, at the Convention Center. It was the largest bridal show attended in the mid-Atlantic region. The show attracted over 3000 brides plus their families and friends during the two-day period.

Saint Lucia was the only island represented at the show. Lada Markman of Lada Travel, one of Saint Lucia's Preferred Agent Saint Lucia Specialists (PASS) agents, assisted at the booth and booked a Sandals honeymoon from the show. Other prospective vacationers have already been identified, with a few destination weddings expected from the show.

Meanwhile, the Saint Lucia Tourist Board's Regional Marketing Manager for Canada carried out a four-day sales mission in two major cities in the Maritimes.

The first stop was Halifax, Nova Scotia to participate in the annual Maritime Travel Vacation Superstore. Always a lively show, Saint Lucia was very popular, with great attendance during presentation time and securing well over 10 bookings on show day.

This was followed by a visit to St. John's, Newfoundland for a consumer night with Lois Barbour of Travel Time TPI. Thanks to the Pitons Marketing Dollars, which are on offer through participation in the Tourist Board's PASS program, Lois and her team were able to put on a fantastic consumer event showcasing all the reasons to have a destination wedding or honeymoon in Saint Lucia.

The Maritimes sales mission was hailed a success with positive results expected.
